The eight members of Mamar Kassey have become the most significant musical ambassadors of the remote desert nation of Niger, bringing their blend of ancient and modern sounds to audiences throughout Africa, Europe, and North America. Their exuberant music, often accompanied by dance, is rooted in Fulani, Hausa, Songhai and Zerma traditions and has become the most popular sound to emerge from Niger.
