Concert stagings of two short operas
Produced by Absolute Ensemble
Part of the Skirball Insider Program
Kristjan Järvi's innovative Absolute Ensemble presents a unique double-bill: Zaide, the incomplete singspiel of the young Mozart, and Casanova, the U.S. premiere of a brand-new opera by Swiss composer, Daniel Schnyder, recently premiered in Gstaad, Switzerland. Since 1993, this electro-acoustic band has been a catalyst for change, choosing to integrate, rather than segregate new music. Fusing a diverse group of young performers with a rich variety of substance and style, the Absolute Ensemble challenges rigid perceptions of what constitutes "serious" music.
