This action-packed production is full of Chinese ghosts and demons plus the famous Monkey King. The stories of the Nine-Tailed Fox Spirit, Haunting of Hallowed Love and The Monkey Wrecks King Havoc in Imperial Stables provides a spectacular evening of music, mime, costumes and amazing martial arts. Combining singing and dialogue with acrobatic tumbling and kung-fu fighting, the Qi Shu Fang Peking Opera Company stages a thrilling performance in Chinese with English subtitles.

The Nine-Tailed Fox Spirit

At the top of Green Rock Mountain lives the thousand-year-old Nine-Tailed Fox Spirit. Upon meeting Zhou Conglun, she changes herself into a beautiful young maiden and beguiles the young scholar. In order to save his master, Zhou’s page boy requests the help of renowned ghost catcher Wang Banxian to capture this demon. However, instead of capturing the Nine-Tailed Fox Spirit, Wang is tricked by her then seeks out the help of warriors Guan Gong, Guan Ping, Zhou Cang and their immortal allies.

Haunting of Hallowed Love

Yan Xijiao and Zhang Sanlang are very much in love. However, their love is forbidden as Zhang Sanlang is the disciple of Song Jiang who is also Yan’s husband. One day, Yan intercepts a letter that exposes her husbands connection with the enemy rebellion. She attempts to use this letter to her advantage and her fate is met by death. Even in death however,  she is unable to forget her love for Zhang. In the dark of the night, she goes to her love as a ghost.

The Monkey King Wrecks Havoc in Imperial Stables

The Emperor of Heaven learns of the clever Monkey King removing a precious metal from the depths of the universe. The unsuspecting Monkey King is then welcomed to Heaven and quickly given the assignment of caring for the imperial stables. Havoc ensues as the Monkey King uncovers the trickery behind his invitation.
