Shafqat Ali Khan, heir to a musical dynasty that dates back to the Mughal courts of the 16th century, is the son and disciple of the legendary Ustad Salamat Ali Khan. A master vocalist in the tradition shared by musicians in Pakistan and North India, he is particularly noted for his exquisite renditions of ghazals (poetic love songs) and Sufi songs. He has performed since the age of seven, and received numerous honors, including the prestigious Amir Khusro award.
